Main usage of ammonium sulphate & How to use ammonuim sulphate
Ammonium sulfate, also known as ammonium sulfate powder, contains nitrogen and sulfur, two essential nutrients for plants. It contains 20%–21% nitrogen and 24% sulfur, making it highly effective for sulfur-deficient crops. It is a tasteless, colorless crystalline or white granular inorganic substance, insoluble in ethanol and acetone. Ammonium sulfate is mainly used as a fertilizer. As an ammonium nitrogen fertilizer, it can be used as top dressing, seed fertilizer, and base fertilizer, and its effects are particularly rapid. Compared to nitrogen fertilizers such as urea, ammonium bicarbonate, ammonium nitrate, and ammonium chloride, it is more suitable for sulfur-deficient and alkaline soils, showing significant yield-increasing effects on corn, rice, soybeans, sugarcane, sweet potatoes, peanuts, tea, citrus, wheat, cotton, and various cash crops.
Main Uses
Ammonium sulfate is most suitable for neutral and alkaline soils, but not for acidic soils. In addition, ammonium sulfate does not contain toxic or harmful components such as chlorine and biuret, making it a common raw material for compound fertilizers. Furthermore, ammonium sulfate can also be used in textiles, leather, and pharmaceuticals.
Ammonium sulfate fertilizer is rich in nitrogen, providing the nutrients needed for plant growth. Nitrogen is an important component in the synthesis of proteins and chlorophyll in plants, crucial for their growth and development.
Meanwhile, ammonium sulfate fertilizer also contains sulfur, one of the essential nutrients for plants. Sulfur participates in the synthesis and activity regulation of various enzymes in plants, playing a vital regulatory role in photosynthesis and nutrient absorption.
Usage Methods
(1) As a base fertilizer. Ammonium sulfate can be used as a base fertilizer, applied to the soil before sowing, followed by deep tilling to ensure even mixing. This provides the nutrients needed throughout the crop's growth cycle.
(2) As a top dressing. Ammonium sulfate can also be used as a top dressing. Appropriate amounts of ammonium sulfate are applied during the crop's growth period, depending on the crop's growth needs and soil fertility, to supplement the nitrogen content in the soil.
(3) As a seed fertilizer. Ammonium sulfate can also be used as a seed fertilizer. When sowing, the fertilizer is scattered into the soil along with the seeds to provide the nutrients needed for the early growth of crops.
